Thank you to all delegates who created magic at the Made in the North 2012 gathering. Join us on Facebook for forum updates and to keep the conversation going.
Yukon Literacy Coalition, NWT Literacy Council, and Ilitaqsiniq–Nunavut Literacy Council hosted the first-ever, pan-northern forum on literacy, adult learning, and skills development in Yellowknife, NWT, from October 23 to 25, 2012.
The purpose of this gathering was to support:
Made-in-the-North approaches to adult learning, literacy, and skills development.
Exchange innovative policies and practices. Expand our visions to better serve the goals of Northerners, our communities, and our territories.
Rich dialogue and resource sharing.
Engage in dynamic workshops and dialogue sessions with stakeholders from across the North. Share experiences, resources, and ideas. Learn from each others’ varied perspectives and expertise.
Inspired connections and action.
Connect with the information-sharing and action networks in each territory and across the North. Identify and strengthen effective skills development programs in your community, territory, and beyond.
Invited participants and presenters include northern practitioners and learners, employers, policy makers, administrators, researchers, aboriginal language and traditional knowledge experts, territorial and federal funding managers, and political leaders.
Together, we explored innovations and visions for skills development in our regions and across the North.
